Two LCD screens of identical size (about 25 inches) hang face to face on opposite walls, spaced 4-6 meters apart. The two monitors repeatedly broadcast the same video content. Sensors are installed on the bottom of the two monitors. When viewer approaches the monitors, the sensors will detect their movement, affecting the playback speed and sound of the video. The video content is a military phrase:“ United Nation? It knows me but I don’t know it!”The video is sourced from the 1960’s film New Guard Under Neon Lights, in which a Western diplomat attempts to interfere with a demonstration by citizens and students in support of the Communist Party. After he is stopped, he threatens to lodge a protest with the United Nations, which is when this indignant phrase came into being.
